Worship is central to the life of Ascension and Saint Agnes Parish. Mass is celebrated each Sunday at 8:00 a.m. and at 10:00 a.m. Evensong is offered on Sunday at 5:00 pm. On Wednesdays Evening Prayer is at 6:45 pm and Mass at 7:00 pm (in the St Francis Chapel) and on Thursdays there is the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at 6:30 am, Morning Prayer at 7:15 am and Mass at 7:30 am (all in the St Francis Chapel). Please refer to the front page for latest schedule.
As you will see elsewhere on this web site, all parish activities are aimed at developing our lives as Christians grateful to God and in service to our neighbors and to one another. The various community groups within the parish, our programs of outreach, programs of formation and discussion, and groups formed for fun and the sheer enjoyment of one another’s company all exist to enhance our lives, our understanding, our affections, our compassion for the suffering and those in need, and the fullness of our thanksgiving to God in the action of the Mass.
Our worship is informed by the liturgical calendar, which gives shape to the turn of the year. We give attention to the events in the earthly life of the Lord Jesus and to the lives of the saints and to the changing seasons with the intent that our worship will sanctify the time God gives us.
The Church provides for two types of corporate prayer. The principal type is the Mass or Holy Communion. The other type of corporate prayer, known as the Daily Office, reflects aspects of ancient monastic usage and comprises Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline. Other Prayers of the Church, while not formally part of the current Daily Office, have been hallowed by tradition.
